Dental Crowns

When a tooth is just slightly chipped or cracked, the problem is primarily an aesthetic one that can be addressed through cosmetic dentistry treatments such as porcelain veneers and dental bonding. Sometimes, however, this is not the case. Whether it occurs as a result of advanced tooth decay or an injury sustained during an accident, major damage to a tooth can be quite serious. Not only does it look bad, but it can also be quite painful or uncomfortable to live with.

From such instances of chipped teeth or cracked teeth, we often use dental crowns at our San Francisco practice. Dental crowns are caps that fit directly over a tooth that has been severely damaged. The dental crown will protect the tooth from any further damage and will also help reduce any discomfort or sensitivity associated with the damaged tooth. The dental crowns can be made from a tooth colored material, to ensure it blends in seamlessly with your surrounding teeth.
